Топор-чекан ПЕТРОГРАДЪ, модель Туров (обратный всад) это прекрасный образец компактного боевого топора с молоточком на конце. Топор был спроектирован по образцу древних топоров-чеканов, во множестве найденных на местах археологических раскопок, проводивших на территориях древнерусских княжеств. Производство фабрика Петроградъ (Россия).

Историческая справка:
Один из таких топоров был обнаружен на территории Замковой Горы в городе Туров в Белоруссии. Упоминание города Туров даёт нам "Повесть временных лет": "...Этот Рогволод перешел из-за морья и держал власть свою в Полоцке. А Тур держал власть в Турове, от него же и туровцы прозвались...».
Топор-чекан хоть и является боевым топором, но исторически являлся знаком военноначалия. Определяющей чертой этого типа топоров является наличие молоточка на задней части головы, а также небольшая рукоять. На Руси такие топоры назывались "топорок" или "топорец".
Подобные топорики имелись на вооружении скифов ещё в VI веке до н. э., а позднее использовались сармато-аланскими племенами, а также протоболгарами и хазарами в Причерноморье. В VIII-IX веках они получают распространение в восточной Европе на территории современных Венгрии, Чехии и Румынии. От кочевников попали они и на Русь, где достигли значительного распространения (около 17 % всех топоров до XIII века). Вместе с аланами этот топор прошёл всю Европу, достигнув Испании. Во Франции и Испании такой тип топора получил очень большое распространение, став, по сути, хозяйственным инструментом.
Во времена "открытия" Америки такие топоры в огромных количествах вывозились из Испании и продавались индейским племенам. В дальнейшем индейцы сами освоили производство топоров, одним из вариантов которого стал легендарный Томагавк.
Таким образом, название топора связывает нас и с именем легендарного князя Тура, некогда правившего на древлянской земле, а также с событиями, происходившими на территории Руси, Европы и Америки нашей земле столетия лет назад.
В Музее-Мастерской Рубанков есть несколько образцов топоров-чеканов и топоров, являющихся правнуками легендарного чекана.
На снимке 9 представлены хозяйственные топоры XIX века из Испании и Франции.
На рисунке 10 представлены изображения древних боевых топоров, среди которых есть чеканы.
По мотивам одного из таких топоров на фабрике ПЕТРОГРАДЪ и был создан топор Туров.

Forest axe PETROGRAD, model Bryansk
